Top Ten Tuesday: Favorite Kick-Ass Heroines

Varje Tisdag anordnar The Broke and the Bookish en "Top Ten Tuesday"
Denna vecka är det: Top Ten Favorite Kick-Ass Heroines

1. Katy Swartz

“No. Sorry. You have spent months being the biggest jerk to me. You don't get to decide to like me one day and think I will forget that. I want someone to care for me like my dad cared for my mom. And you aren't him.”

2. Celaena Sardothien

“You’ll be sweating when I skin you alive and squish your eyeballs beneath my feet,” she muttered, picking up the rapier.
“That’s the spirit.”
She practically threw the rapier into place, and drew the hunting knives without hesitation.

My dear old friends.
A wicked smile spread across her face.”

3. Alice Bell

"Sighing again, he rubbed at the tattoos on his wrist. 'Mackenzie was right. You aren't slayer material.'
Before he had time to register my intentions, I threw a punch. My sore, swollen knuckles slammed into his cheekbone, thrusting his head to the side. Pain shot up my arm, but I bit my tongue to stop a moan.
'You were saying?"

4. Katniss Everdeen

“Then something unexpected happens. At least, I don't expect it because I don't think of District 12 as a place that cares about me. But a shift has occurred since I stepped up to take Prim's place, and now it seems I have become someone precious. At first one, then another, then almost every member of the crowd touches the three middle fingers of their left hand to their lips and holds it out to me. It is an old and rarely used gesture of our district, occasionally seen at funerals. It means thanks, it means admiration, it means good-bye to someone you love.”

 5. Sophie Mercer

“It just seems like overkill when you already have a dagger and I have superpowerful magic at my disposal.”
“‘Superpowerful?’”He stood up, a gold chain dangling from his fingers. “Let me remind you of two words, Mercer: Bad. Dog.”

6. Hermione Granger

"I hope you're pleased with yourselves. We could all have been killed - or worse, expelled."

7. Rose Hathaway

“Even I make mistakes." I put on my brash, overconfident face. "I know it's hard to believe—kind of surprises me myself—but I guess it has to happen. It's probably some kind of karmic way to balance out the universe. Otherwise, it wouldn't be fair to have one person so full of awesomeness.”

 8. Ellie Linton

“My survival was up to me. I had nothing and I had no one. What I did have, I told myself, was my mind, my imagination, my memory, my feelings, my spirit. These were important and powerful things.”

9. Allison Sekemoto

"Rabids edged onto the pavement, filling the road, their hisses and snarls rising into the air. Their empty white eyes blazed with madness and Hunger, and they began to sprint forward . Reaching back, I drew my blade, feeling it rasp free, gleaming as it came into the light.
Looking up at the approaching rabids, I smiled.”

10. Alexandria Andros

“I guess there were two types of people in the world, those who sat around a fire, staring into the flames, and those who started the fire.
Seth and I started the fire, and then we danced around it.”
